StrokeTap is offered free of charge and partly financed through advertising.

Privacy

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This privacy notice informs you about how your data is processed in the StrokeTap app – including advertising via Google AdMob.

Data controller

Responsible for data processing:

What data is processed?

The app processes the following data:

  • Profile data (nickname, handicap, gender)
  • Golf rounds and stroke counter results
  • Habit-tracking data
  • Location data when using the golf course mode (only while in use)
  • Device data required for app functionality
  • For advertising: device identifiers, IP address, app usage and ad data (e.g. Ad-ID/IDFA, if you consent)

Some data is stored in iCloud (CloudKit); StrokeTap rounds are stored locally on your device only.

Legal basis

Processing for app functionality is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) and on the performance of a contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

Personalised advertising is shown based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Non-personalised advertising may be shown based on legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) in financing the free app if consent has not been granted.

Purpose

Data is used to provide and improve app features (golf rounds, Stableford calculation, habit tracking) and to finance the free app through advertising.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

StrokeTap uses Google AdMob to display advertising. After finishing a StrokeTap counter round (Just Count), a full-screen interstitial ad may be shown.

Google may process personal and pseudonymous data such as device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, app interactions and ad delivery information. The specific processing depends on your consent and your device settings.

Consent and settings

On first launch – and again when needed – you are informed about the use of advertising data via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK and can allow or reject personalised advertising.

Apple may additionally ask for App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission if required for advertising.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in the app under Menu → Privacy settings, if this menu item is available.

Google Analytics for Firebase / Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics for Firebase / Google Analytics 4 in our StrokeTap app, an analytics service by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. This service helps us analyse how the app is used, evaluate features, improve content and enhance usability.

In particular, information about screens viewed, features used, in-app interactions, technical device information, app instance IDs as well as usage and diagnostic data may be processed for statistical purposes.

Recipients of the data can be Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Processing in third countries, especially the USA, cannot be ruled out. Where personal data is transferred to a third country, this is done on the basis of appropriate safeguards, in particular the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, where applicable.

Third parties

For advertising we use services from Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC (Google AdMob, Google User Messaging Platform). Google may also process data in third countries (e.g. USA) on the basis of appropriate safeguards (including EU standard contractual clauses), where applicable.

As the app operator we do not have full insight into all data processed by Google. Please refer to Google's privacy information for details.
